China’s total fabric output reached 23.383 billion square meters during the first half of 2007, representing 13 percent year-on-year growth, which was substantially lower than the 21 percent year-on-year expansion in yarn production. Cotton fabric output enjoyed stronger gains with a 17 percent year-on-year increase, totaling 12.832 billion square meters, giving 100-percent cotton a 5.487 percent market share. Cotton-blend fabric output grew 7 percent to 3.992 billion square meters, while MMF output increased 12 percent to 6.526 billion meters. 100-percent cotton market share is up from the 2006 average of 53.78 percent and 2005 average of 52.06 percent.
