Source: Globecot Date: 2007-12-25
The highest yields in China were achieved in the Talimu River Basin of Xinjiang Province, where Production and Construction Corps (PCC) farms dominate cotton production -- PCC farms are the most sophisticated in China and employ the most modern field management. One PCC farm in the Basin reached a new record with yields of 4,200 kilograms of cotton lint per hectare in 2007, which was the equivalent of 3,741.7 pounds per acre or 7.7 bales per acre. The entire PCC farm basin with over 32,000 hectares averaged 2,660 kilograms per hectare, which was up 80 kilograms from the previous year.
