Dongguan Textile and Garment Export Kept Falling

Dongguan, Guangdong Province. The textile and garment export continued falling in Jan. According to the local customs, the export was 270 million USD in Jan. dwon 34.9% to the same period of last year.
Referring to the export way, the processing trade still account for major share. The processing export of textile and garment was 180 million USD, accounting for 68.4% of the total export, but down 41.5% to the same period of last year.
Under the impact of global financial crisis, the export of textile and garment witnessed negative growth since last Nov. in Dongguan. In Jan., the export growth to Korea and Taiwan were 14.7% and 22.3% respectively. While the export to Hong Kong was 100 million USD, down 39.3%; to the U.S. 50.37 million USD, dwon 8.7%, to the E.U. 49.22 USD, down 49.5%. Nevertheless, since Jan. had five less working-days than normal because of Spring Festival. The actual negative growth was not that bad.
